Julie Andrews is timeless.  She was born in 1935 in England.  She began acting and singing as a child. Her lifetime resume includes performances on Broadway, television and film.  She is well-known for her roles in Mary Poppins (1964) and  The Sound of Music (1965).  More recently, she starred in the Princess Diary films and did voice overs for Shrek, Despicable Me, and Aquaman.  She has won an Academy Award, five Golden Globes, three Grammys, two Emmys, the AFI Life Achievement Award, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, and the Disney Legends Award-just to name a few.  Beyond her performing career, she is also an author. She turned 84 years old this year, and continues to perform, write, direct, and invest her talents in the arts.

If you need some enchanting places to wander into this summer, I encourage you to venture into Julie Andrew's recent endeavors.

  • The Julie Andrew's Collection:  Explore this website to find a collection of books for young readers written by Julie and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton.  The book collection intends to foster imagination and wonder and impart wisdom to young readers.  The website also offers free activities, coloring pages, and other printables.
  • Julie's Library:  Tune in to this podcast to hear Julie and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, read their favorite children's books.  Stories come to life with sound, music, and activities. Who doesn't want to be read a bedtime story by the enchanting voice of Mary Poppins?
  • Julie's Greenroom: Watch this original Netflix series hosted by Julie Andrews and a cast of original Jim Henson puppets.  The show was created to educate young children in the fundamentals of performing arts.  Although the show was written for preschoolers, I enjoyed watching it and think  it could capture the imagination of older children also.  Guest stars include Alec Baldwin, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Bell, Tituss Burgess, Carol Burnett, Chris Colfer, Robert Fairchild, Josh Groban, Bill Irwin, Ellie Kemper, Idina Menzel, Tiler Peck, David Hyde Pierce, Stomp, and the Story Pirates.
