Tessa Russell
I am a born and raised Texan who has lived in the DFW area my entire life. I graduated from Grapevine High School in 2006 and Southwestern Assemblies of God in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Education, an Associate's in Bible, and a Minor in Music. I have been married to my "Sunday School Sweetheart," Jordan, for 13 years. We have three blessings: our boys - Jason (10 years/5th Grade) and Harrison (almost 7 years/1st), and our baby girl Emmersyn (4 years/PreK 3round 2). We also have our fur babies, two little dogs - Chance and Chewie. This year starts my 12th year teaching and year 9.5 at CCA. Together my husband and I have been involved in various areas of Ministry for 10+years, including a few church plants. We've traveled to China and Mexico on various missions trip and enjoy telling the world about Jesus. Traveling is one of my favorite things. I would rather travel to make memories than to get any material thing! I love Jesus, my family, all things Disney, traveling, and the color pink! If I could travel anywhere (other than Disney), it would be to Hawaii, NYC, or Europe!
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A Teacher! My mom even bought me a teacher whistle, a pointer, and I had themed vests just like my teachers would wear back in the early 90s!
Why do you choose to work at CCA? I choose to teach at CCA because the ability to teach in a biblically based school, from a biblical world view and to help equip young learners to be image bearers of Christ when they are sent out into the world is a blessing. It is also a priceless blessing to teach at CCA and provide my kids the opportunity to learn in an environment that teaches the whole child mind, body, and spirit.
What is one fun fact about you? Disney is my happy place, and I own 30+ Minnie Mouse ears!
What is your favorite book of all time? That is a tough one! Safely Home is a book about the underground church in China. Because we have gone on mission trips there, China has my heart in a God way. We have often thought about adopting from there.
What is one thing that can instantly make your day better? Dr. Pepper or hearing "Happily Ever After" firework songs from Disneyland
What do you like to do for fun? Dance, sing, and travel
