I love being on the Middle School Team at CCA, as it is a joy to be part of what God is doing at Covenant Christian Academy. I'm entering my 9th year at CCA and my 19th year of teaching. I have taught in Christian schools both nationally and internationally. I graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, English, and History. I hold a Texas teaching certificate in both secondary history and English and a teaching certificate with the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. I am Texas born and raised in a Christian family, although I have spent much of my adult life living outside of Texas. Marrying later in life, my husband John and I recently celebrated our thirteenth anniversary and have been residents of Texas for eight years, relocating to Texas from Arizona. We both love students, teaching, traveling, international ministry, our extended family, our church, Grace Community Presbyterian, and our dog, Daisy. Having experience with elementary and secondary students, I most enjoy teaching students in the transition years of 10-14. I'm blessed and excited to be teaching 6th-grade Humanities. I have a heart for students to know and love God and His people. I consider it a huge privilege and responsibility to partner with CCA families "to train up children" in the Christian faith with a Biblical worldview.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher or a singer

Why do you choose to work at CCA? After seeing the type of education my nieces and nephew received through CCA, I loved what a Classical Christian school produced in them. As an educator, a Classical education produces the best type of education in students, allowing them to be productive, articulate citizens and lifelong lovers of learning and others. I wanted to be a part of this journey.

What is one fun fact about you? I lived overseas for two years, teaching in an international Christian school.

What is your favorite book of all time? I honestly cannot choose just one. I love literature that evokes an emotional response. There are exceptional works and books for different seasons. A few favorites include: Jane Eyre, To Kill a Mockingbird, Unbroken, The Hiding Place, A Christmas Carol, Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe, Redeeming Love, and the Mark of the Lion Series. Some of these I've read for pleasure, some I've taught, and others I couldn't put down until I reached the end.

What is one thing that can instantly make your day better? Coffee, a hug, and an encouraging word

What do you like to do for fun? Play games (mainly board games and card games), and camping with my husband
