Misty Lackey
I grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with an Art Minor from Abilene Christian University. Immediately after graduation, I worked for a year as the Education Coordinator at a local Major League Baseball museum In Arlington, Texas, before I began teaching third grade in Fort Worth. I taught in an underprivileged district for six years, and I considered loving those kids my mission. After marrying my wonderful husband, Dustin, I was blessed to stay at home with my two babies for six years before God brought our family to CCA. I love working here, where my children go to school!
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I either wanted to be a fashion designer or a teacher.
Why do you choose to work at CCA? I believe the classical philosophy of teaching is the best way for students to learn. I also love empowering students with a Christian worldview so they can share their belief and love for Jesus with the world as they grow.
What is one fun fact about you? I love to travel, especially to the beach, on a cruise, or to Disney World.
What is your favorite book of all time? My favorite book is Little Women. As a child, I stumbled upon the Children's Illustrated Classic version at the used bookstore across the street from our house. I read it over and over before reading the original version, which I read every winter for many years. Reading it feels like cozying up with a blanket next to a warm fire.
What is one thing that can instantly make your day better? A hug from one of my children and/or a vanilla Diet Coke
What do you like to do for fun? For fun, I love spending time with my family and friends, listening to audiobooks, and sewing embroidery projects.
