Jamie Baker
I grew up in Hurst, Texas, and graduated from LD Bell High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Mathematics from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. I have taught Math for 14 years in grades 6-9 in public schools, teaching in Keller ISD and Southlake Carroll ISD. I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 18 years, and we have two children, Callie and Camden. Teaching is my passion! I love the interactions we have when discussing math. I like to make math fun!
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a mother and teacher. God has blessed me by making both of my childhood dreams come true! It is my daily joy not only to teach math but to share my passion for the love of learning.
Why do you choose to work at CCA? I chose to work at CCA because I believe in connecting everything we learn to the creator of everything! Learning is easier when we can see the connections between the subject areas and how they relate. The opportunity to teach in a school where everything relates back to God, the ultimate creator, was literally my dream job! It is a blessing to teach in a place where we can openly praise our creator, our Teacher.
What is one fun fact about you? I was in the show choir in high school. I continued singing in college and was on the praise and worship team during my time at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, Tx.
What is your favorite book of all time? My favorite books are anything written by Jodi Picoult. I enjoy her writing style.
What is one thing that can instantly make your day better? Seeing my kids "get' the topics I am teaching and hearing them discuss with understanding is a delight! I love to see them "understand" and appreciate the material.
What do you like to do for fun? I am a mom to 2 competitive soccer-playing kiddos. Soccer is all we do! We travel and play all over the country. I love to watch my kids do what they love! I also love to try new foods and new restaurants. It's fun to find new places!
