Jenny Holmes
I received my bachelor's degree in Education from The University of North Texas. Since 2007, I have taught almost every grade from Kindergarten through 12th grade, and have taught in public schools, private schools, and homeschooled my own children. I am very passionate about reading and the benefits it has on children.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? As a child, I always wanted to be a teacher and to be surrounded by books. I adored my school library in elementary school. It was the most magical place, and I spent all the time I could there.
Why do you choose to work at CCA? I love teaching at CCA because I love the classical school model and principles. I also love infusing every lesson with the gospel and the love of Jesus. My children attend CCA, and my husband and I feel so fortunate that they are the recipients of such a beautiful education.
What is one fun fact about you? I love baking bread and pies!
What is your favorite book of all time? It is too difficult to choose just one! I love Little Women because of the wisdom of Marmee and the sisters' love. I could read it every year for the rest of my life and learn something new each time. A few others I love are Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Anne of Green Gables, Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking, Adorning the Dark by Andrew Peterson, and short stories by Flannery O'Connor.
What is one thing that can instantly make your day better? Helping a child find a book that makes them fall in love with reading! (And dark chocolate!)
What do you like to do for fun? For fun, I like to travel with my family, cook for (and eat with!) the people I love, and read.
