What academic or behavior standards should new students meet?
New students should demonstrate potential for academic success based on past records, entrance tests, and interviews. Students at Covenant Christian Academy generally do not bring their own devices to school. Personal mobile devices must be stored in a locked pouch during the school day to minimize disruptions. For younger students in Early Childhood and Elementary School, school supplies are provided, and families only need to bring essentials like backpacks and water bottles. In Middle School and High School, students receive supply lists via email and are expected to bring their own laptops or tablets as part of their learning tools to help develop responsibility and independence with technology. For more details, please visit our Elementary School and Middle School pages.
-
What online learning tools or educational apps are used in the classroom?
At every stage, we blend hands-on learning with technology to support your child’s growth. In early years like Preschool and Kindergarten, students use apps and websites such as Handwriting Without Tears (HWT), Raz-Kids, Starfall, ABCYa, and YouTube for interactive “Smart Lessons.” As students progress to Elementary School, they engage with educational tools like XtraMath, Scratch Garden, Epic Books for read-alouds, and math videos on YouTube, fostering critical thinking and creativity while guided closely by passionate teachers. In Middle and High School, technology use varies by grade and class, with students utilizing platforms such as Google Classroom, Quizlet, Kahoot, Remind, Google Slides, Canva, Kami, Turnitin, Bible Project videos, and PowerPoint. Our dedicated technology teachers help students develop skills in video production and digital literacy. This balanced approach ensures your child thrives academically and spiritually in a safe, Christ-centered environment. Learn more about our elementary and middle school programs.
-
Are there online or hybrid classes available for students?
Currently, our programs focus on in-person, classical Christian education tailored to each developmental stage—from Preschool through High School. We do not offer online or hybrid classes as part of the regular curriculum. Instead, we provide a rich, hands-on learning environment with small class sizes, personal mentoring, and opportunities for spiritual, academic, and social growth. Families seeking more information or personalized support are encouraged to connect with our admissions team to explore how we can best meet their child’s needs.
-
How do teachers use technology like videos or interactive tools in class?
Teachers use technology like videos and interactive tools to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that meet students where they are. In preschool and kindergarten, technology is used for about 25 minutes daily, including playing Bible stories and music during rest time, and using Smart Boards for letter, number, and sight word review. Elementary and middle school teachers incorporate videos occasionally when they relate directly to the lesson, along with interactive lessons to encourage exploration, critical thinking, and collaboration. High school students often use technology for presentations, research, and creative projects like video production, enhancing both academic skills and spiritual growth. This approach helps students stay curious, confident, and connected to their learning journey.

What does the school do to keep students safe online and in digital spaces?
At every stage, we prioritize your child’s safety online and in digital spaces by combining secure technology use with strong community values. Our faculty and staff undergo thorough background checks, and all buildings have key card access with monitored video surveillance. To minimize class disruptions and promote focused learning, students are asked to store their personal mobile devices in locked pouches during the school day. We teach students responsible technology habits and provide academic support so they’re never alone facing challenges. Our school counselor helps students manage emotions confidently, while teachers and coaches model respectful, Christlike behavior both offline and online. For families with younger children through high schoolers, we partner closely with you to foster wise, safe, and balanced digital use. Learn more about our supportive environment and resources here.
-
What does the school do to teach and enforce responsible tech use?
At every age, we teach responsible tech use by encouraging balance, intentionality, and wise choices. For younger children, we prioritize hands-on, multi-sensory learning and limit screen time to foster creativity and focus. As students grow, we guide them to manage device time wisely, emphasizing habits like tech-free hours and “mostly” tech-free summers to build stronger relationships, better mental health, and spiritual growth. In middle and high school, students develop digital skills alongside character traits like responsibility and self-control, supported by faculty modeling wise tech habits and integrating these values across academics and activities.
Learn more about our approach in elementary school, middle school, and high school.
-
How much screen time do students have during the school day?
Screen time during the school day is thoughtfully balanced at every age to support healthy development. In Preschool and Kindergarten, learning is hands-on and multi-sensory, minimizing passive screen use while engaging curiosity through play and exploration. Elementary students follow a classical curriculum that integrates technology wisely without overwhelming screen exposure. Middle and High Schoolers use technology as a tool for learning and creativity but are strongly encouraged to unplug and engage in face-to-face interaction, outdoor play, and spiritual growth. To maintain focus and minimize distractions, students are required to place personal mobile devices in secure, locked pouches during the school day. Additional screen time is intentionally limited, with school-issued Chromebooks used only as needed for academic purposes such as writing essays, conducting research, or working on select projects like art or yearbook. We prioritize intentional tech use to nurture focus, rest, and relational health across all stages.
For more about our approach, explore our Early Childhood, Elementary School, and Middle School programs.
-
Are there parent workshops on how to manage kids’ screen time and tech use at home?
While we do not currently offer dedicated parent workshops specifically on managing kids’ screen time and technology use at home, we provide thoughtfully written blog content that addresses these topics from a biblical and practical perspective. Families can also find helpful guidance through resources like the Fostering Healthy Digital Habits for Kids podcast, which offers practical tips on balancing tech use. Additionally, being part of a like-minded Christian community offers ongoing encouragement and shared wisdom as parents navigate these challenges together. For all ages, consider establishing tech-free times, like “No Tech Tuesdays,” to encourage creativity, family connection, and spiritual growth. You can explore more ideas on creating a “mostly” tech-free summer to help your family unplug and thrive.

How much can we receive?
Tuition assistance awards vary by family but are typically capped at no more than 50% of tuition. We encourage every family who needs help to apply, as awards depend on demonstrated need and available funds. Families must reapply annually since financial situations and budgets change. For details on applying and deadlines, feel free to explore our tuition assistance information.
-
Do we need to reapply every year?
Families do need to reapply for tuition assistance each year because financial circumstances can change and funds are allocated annually. This ensures that awards reflect your current need. Applying yearly helps us support as many families as possible with available resources. If you’re interested, you can learn more about the tuition assistance process, including deadlines and required documents. We encourage families at every stage — from Kindergarten through High School — to apply each year to maintain or adjust their assistance.

This includes a thorough review of household income, assets, and qualified expenses. A small Tuition Assistance Committee then reviews FACTS’ recommendations alongside available budget funds to decide awards. Typically, assistance is capped at about 50% of tuition. We look at your overall financial picture and consider your unique situation to help make a Covenant education possible for your family. Learn more about tuition assistance.

If you’re wondering whether you qualify, we encourage you to apply and let us review your unique situation. Learn more about our tuition assistance process and how to apply.

We evaluate each application individually, so there’s no strict income cutoff. Assistance typically covers up to 50% of tuition and is available for all grade levels, from Preschool through High School. Your family’s privacy is respected throughout the process, and applying for aid does not affect admissions decisions.
To learn more, explore our tuition assistance program or contact Joy Hale for personal support.

If you disagree with your tuition assistance decision, we encourage you to meet with Joy Hale to review your application details. This helps ensure no important financial information was missed. No one outside a small tuition assistance committee and the business office knows which families apply for aid. We keep your application and information confidential to protect your privacy. To help maintain this discretion, we ask families to keep their tuition assistance details private, including award amounts. This ensures your family’s privacy is respected throughout the process, whether your child is in Elementary, Middle, or High School. If you have questions, we’re here to help you take the next step.
