I received my degree in Scientific Illustration at the University of Georgia. I was in Air Force ROTC and was a maintenance officer when the plans for flight school were changed due to budget cuts. When I left the Air Force, I worked as a maintenance manager for Coca-Cola and then for a trucking company here in DFW, where we relocated in 1996. Maintenance management was never what I had intended to do with my life. I spent a lot of time volunteering with the youth at church. So, my wife eventually convinced me that teaching was where I was calling. I got my alternative certification in 2008 and left management to become a teacher. I have been teaching ever since and have taught science in grades 5-8.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? In high school, I wanted to go into medicine.
Why do you choose to work at CCA? I love CCA because I can teach science while also being able to teach that all truth is God's truth and His revelation, be it general or special, does not lie or conflict with itself.
What is one fun fact about you? I can ride a unicycle.
What is your favorite book of all time? I don't have one favorite. I like Animal Farm, The Screwtape Letters, and Fahrenheit 451. for the deeper meaning below the surface narrative. These 3, in particular, have incredible relevance today.
What is one thing that can instantly make your day better? When a student gives me a note that tells me what I am doing makes a difference.
What do you like to do for fun? Ride. Bicycles, motorcycles.
