Why I Choose Christian School for My Children

reasons to choose private schoolBefore our kids were born, we bought our first home in Sacramento, CA.  It was a brand new starter home, in a new development, across the street from a newly built, beautiful elementary school. "Perfect!" we thought. We would be able to take our future children by the hands and easily deliver them to school each morning. Pickup would be simple.

All these years later, and our kids have never sat in a public school classroom. What happened???

Well, they were born, and we quickly came to realize the important task that was set before us.

Guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Train up our children  in the way they should go.

When my son was 3, I began to search for a preschool that would take the very best care of him. I found a Christian school that offered PK-8th grade.  I walked into the office and felt the love of God deep in my soul. It struck me...this is what I want my children to feel every day.

There were Bible verses posted on the wall. Ones we hoped our children would one day hide in their hearts. No matter how fiercely the world tried to pull them in the other direction, we wanted them to embrace the truths of the Bible, and we knew we needed backup.

Over the years our kids have spent in Christian school, we've gotten that backup. An army of God's people, teachers, parents and staff members, have spoken truth into the hearts of our kids. They've encouraged our kids in their faith, and have shown them what it looks like to walk in the ways of the Lord. They've shown them how to serve and how to work hard as working for the Lord. Each with a unique background and perspective.

Our children have always memorized scripture at school. Each week, since Kindergarten, they have learned the very words of God... words they have hidden in their precious hearts to guard them against lies the enemy wants them to believe. Words that are exactly what we need to "train up our children in the way they should go."

Why did we choose the particular school our kids attend currently? Simply put, they did not make us feel like our kids would be lucky to be accepted there. They made us feel like they would be lucky to have our kids attend. Just as God waits eagerly with open arms for us to come to Him!

I have not even touched on the education my children are getting.  It's stellar.  It's important they are prepared for the world we will eventually send them off into.

To us, it's just as important for them to be prepared for the next life as it is to be prepared for this one. And that is why I choose Christian school for my children.
