When Covenant faculty member, Rick Jackson, learned of Fort Worth's Union Gospel Mission's efforts to feed and clothe the homeless of Tarrant County, he decided to talk to his students about what it means to live out Matthew 25. Calling his project "The Empty Plate of Helplessness," the teacher challenged them to put their faith into action by donating enough money to feed 100 people. The students' hearts were overwhelmed with compassion, and they emptied their piggy banks and savings to collect over $1,600! This will feed at least 1,000 men, women, girls, and boys during the Christmas season. Mr. Jackson said he was blown away by the students' willingness to give whatever they had to bless those in need, and hopes to make this an annual tradition for his students.
