Two of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters — Buckets Blakes and TNT Maddox — attended a rally at Colleyville Covenant Christian Academy on Wednesday, January 25, in the school's gymnasium.  They came to recognize two CCA athletes whose inspirational essays won a recent contest sponsored by the Globetrotter organization.

Student athletes all across the metroplex had been challenged by the Globetrotters to submit a story about a coach, athlete, parent or other person in their lives who significantly impacted them in their game.  Covenant Christian Academy Headmaster Keith Castello recognized this as an opportunity to showcase the school's student's writing skills and challenged his English instructors to solicit stories from their students.  Their stories were submitted to the management of KLTY radio 94.9 and  winners were selected from hundreds of entries from all over the metroplex.

CCA selected a field of six finalists ranging in age from 8th to 11th grades from whom the grand prize winner was announced and awarded a notebook computer and tickets to the Globetrotter's game on Saturday.  THAT WINNER WAS SOPHOMORE MARK HILL.  He wrote about his fellow student and soccer player, Daniel (Dani) Mendez.

Congratulations to all six finalists
for their inspirational stories!
