Students who wish to take string, piano, brass, or guitar lessons and do not own the instrument they wish to play will need to rent or purchase an instrument prior to the beginning of the lessons.  There are several options listed below to help you.

Young Musicians in Fort Worth
The rental prices are as follows and are dependent upon the quality of the instrument you are renting. Young Musicians does not require a deposit, just a credit card number they will keep on file. They do require rental insurance for a nominal fee ($1-3) per month. Rent is collected on a quarterly basis. To rent an instrument, call and make an appointment so that your child can be measured for the correct instrument size (817-741-3838).

Violin- $15 - $25/month
Viola- $18 - $25/month
Cello- $25 - $50/month

Mr. E’s music store on Airport Freeway in Bedford
They charge $25 a month for instrument rentals and they carry strings, guitars and brass. They require a credit check, or a $200 deposit to rent an instrument. They encourage parents to set up a bank draft every month to pay for the rental, or you can pay by check. Mr. E’s contact information is 817- 545-1103 and www.mr-e-music.com. 

Purchase
Both stores have instruments for purchase. I do not have pricing information at Mr. E’s. Young Musicians has instruments for sale, both new and used. Prices vary depending on the quality of the instrument.

Violins are in the $150 range for a new student instrument and $315-325 for a new Nagoya (Japanese made Suzuki instrument).

Cellos are in the $600 range for a new student instrument and $1800 and up for a new Nagoya (Japanese made Suzuki instrument).

YM also has some used violins and cellos for sale which can be seen on their website at www.ymonline.com. They sell all Suzuki materials, books etc… as well.

If you wish to take piano and you do not own a piano, CCA has a limited number of keyboards for rent. Keyboards are not the best choice for beginning piano because the weight of the key is very light, but it is a possibility if that is your only option.
