By exercising our creativity and using the creative gifts God has given to us, we commune with God in a very special way. Therefore, the development of our creative gifts enables us to experience communion with the Lord at a greater level of intimacy. By developing skills in music, art, and spoken word, we are able to give expression to our faith and relationship with God on a much deeper level. In addition, the development of the artistic talents with which God has gifted us, can be used to glorify Him and to bring others to know Him.
"Sing for joy to the Lord...Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy."
– Psalm 38
Finally, CCA is a classical school, which refers to a three-tiered process of teaching and learning, but also indicates that we place an emphasis upon the classic works of western civilization. These are the works that have "stood the test of time" and are part of the cultural landscape in which we live. Our desire is that our students' understanding of the great works of art integrate with their understanding of all the other disciplines they study while at CCA. In this way, when our students graduate they will be well equipped to participate in the "Great Conversation," and to enjoy a lifetime of artistic appreciation and expression.
