CCA's French Program
CCA’s French program incorporates a rigorous academic pursuit while permitting students to grow in their understanding of the place of language in God’s world.
- Instructors foster listening proficiency through application of recent research in second language learning. Students hear French right away.
- The curriculum provides students ample speaking practice and encourages students to use and experiment with the vocabulary and structures they learn.
- Both discrete point exercises and broader writing exercises induce students to use their new language to develop level-appropriate writing proficiency.
- While learning about cultures of French speaking countries, students are encouraged to examine culture in context of a biblical worldview.
- The curriculum incorporates a study of the history and literature of France that integrates with historical period the History/English curriculum covers each year, (i.e., third year French students wrestle with Voltaire and Rousseau in French class at the same time their History/English instructor covers the material in class.)
In November of each year, French students host and prepare a celebration of French and Francophone cultures and contributions. National French Week showcases French culture while engaging students’ abilities and interests.- The integration of Bible verse memorization in French and learning to pray in French reminds students that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord of all creation. Special emphasis on the history of Christianity in France and its present status in modern francophone cultures fosters a compassion and concern for indigenous Christians and missionaries.
- CCA has developed an exchange program with an ACSI school in the south of France (École Protestante du Cèdre), permitting CCA students both exposure to French Christian young people when they visit, and the opportunity for immersion in France when CCA students travel to France every other year.

Revelation 5:9
And they sang a new song:
"You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased men for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation."
